General Issues

  1. What is the system requirement needed to run the Flo Tuition video conferencing software?

    Students should have a computer (Windows XP/ Vista) with internet connection (preferably broadband connection).

  2. What is the difference between signing up for Flo Tuition and going to a tuition centre?

    The development of video conferencing technology has broken physical barriers, allowing distant learning to take place effectively. Learning will still take place similar to lessons being conducted in a physical classroom.

    Unlike going to a physical tuition centre, students save time on traveling and learn from the comfort of their home.

  3. Can I reschedule my lesson if I cannot make it for my allocated time slot?

    Flo Tuition takes into consideration the learning experience of every child. To allow every child to learn effectively, there should be minimal disruption to their learning routine. Thus, rescheduling of lessons is not encouraged.

    However, Flo Tuition understands that there may be genuine incidents which will prevent the child from attending their scheduled lessons. Parents should inform Flo Tuition if a child is not available for their scheduled lesson. Flo Tuition can arrange the child to attend another class subject to availability.

  4. How do I get my tuition materials or hand up my assignments?

    Tuition materials will be disseminated to students via emails. Similarly, assignments can be handed up using the same channel.

  5. Can my child take a break during the school holidays?

    Flo Tuition advocates daily study habit which may take some time for a child to inculcate and maintain. A child needs to be in touch with his/ her work consistently to keep the momentum going. With continuity of study, we can ensure that the child maintains the speed and accuracy which he/ she is building up. Parents should inform Flo Tuition if a child is going on a holiday. Flo Tuition can arrange the child to attend another class subject to availability.

  6. Will there be lessons if the tuition session falls on a public holiday?

    Flo Tuition emphasize the importance of balancing both the tutors. well-being and students. learning. Allowing tutors a rest on public holidays will ensure that tutors will give their best after their well-deserved break.

  7. How do I make payment?

    It depends on the course you are taking. For example, if you are taking a Secondary 1 course, a one time registration fee of $30 and monthly tuition fee of $120 will be payable only upon confirmation after the first free trial lesson. Our service staff will collect the payment from you at a place and time of your convenience.

  8. How do I get started?

    Flo Tuition firmly believes in providing first-class quality service to all our customers. As such, customers never have to leave the comfort of their home from registration to the commencement of the tuition lessons.

    Customers can sign up via the “sign up” function on our website. Follow the instructions to provide all the necessary information.

    Our service staff will contact our customers to verify the accuracy of information provided and lesson schedule.

    Our technical support staff will deliver the Flo Tuition start-up kit to our customer.s house and teach the child how to use the Flo Tuition system at a time convenient to our customer.

    The child will log onto the Flo Tuition system for his/ her tuition lesson during the scheduled time slot.

    To give our customers a piece of mind in signing up, students get one trial lesson free!

    If our customers change their mind, they are not obliged to continue after the first trial lesson. Simply return the Flo Tuition start-up kit in working condition. No charges will be incurred. It’s that simple!

Technical Issues

  1. What are the minimum system requirements needed to run the Flo Tuition video conferencing software?

    Windows XP

    A web browser that can run ActiveX controls such as Internet Explorer

    A fast Internet connection such as a broadband connection

  2. I cannot log into the Video Conferencing site.

    You may have entered the wrong username or password. Ensure that you have a registered account with us.

    If you continue to have problems logging in, please email our technical support at technical@flotuition.com.sg.

  3. What are the firewall settings for the video conferencing software?

    Your firewall must allow outgoing TCP connection to flotuition.com.sg at port 6006 and incoming UDP connection from flotuition.com.sg to ports 5000-15000.

  4. What is the password for my classroom?

    It is given to you together with your account details.

  5. How do I talk?

    Ensure that no one is talking at the moment and it is your turn to speak.

    Click and hold on the “Talk” button to speak. Release the “Talk” button once you finish speaking.

    If you intend to speak for more than 30 seconds, it is recommended that you enable the “hands free” feature by clicking the small box beside the “Hands free” text. When you finish speaking, click the small box again to disable the “hands free” feature.

  6. How do I customize my text?

    You can change the format of your text like color, style, type of font and size by clicking on “Font” near the bottom left hand corner of the page.

  7. How do I use emoticons?

    Click on “Emoticon” near the bottom left hand corner of the page and choose the emoticon you want to use.

  8. I cannot see myself in the Virtual Classroom.

    Ensure that you have plugged in the webcam and it is working.

    Ensure that you are not using the webcam in another session. If you are, close the webcam session and re-enter the Virtual Classroom.

    Before you sign into the Virtual Classroom, make sure that you have selected the correct video capture device. You can change the video capture device by clicking the “Settings” button on the top right hand corner of the page.

  9. Other people cannot hear me in the Virtual Classroom.

    Ensure that you have plugged in your microphone and it is working.

    Before you sign into the Virtual Classroom, make sure that you have selected the correct audio capture device. You can change the audio capture device by clicking the .Settings. button on the top right hand corner of the page.

  10. I cannot hear the other students or the teacher.

    Adjust the volume control near the bottom right hand corner of the page.
